A) Core Application Requirements (Mandatory for Everyone)
- DS-160 Form (Online Application)
- Complete at: ceac.state.gov.
- Fill carefully with correct personal information, employment, family details, and travel purpose.
- Upload a digital photo that meets U.S. specifications.
- Print the DS-160 confirmation page (with barcode) for interview.
- Visa Appointment Registration (USTravelDocs)
- Create a profile at: ustraveldocs.com/th.
- Pay the non-refundable MRV visa fee (~USD 185, subject to change, paid in Thai Baht at designated banks or online).
- Schedule interview at the U.S. Embassy Bangkok or U.S. Consulate Chiang Mai.
- Print the appointment confirmation page.
- Passport (Original + Copy)
- Valid for at least 6 months beyond intended stay in the U.S.
- Must contain at least two blank pages.
- If previous passports exist, bring them too (especially those with travel history).
- Photograph
- Size: 2×2 inches (51×51 mm), white background, color, no glasses.
- Must meet strict U.S. Department of State photo guidelines.
- Upload online AND bring 1 printed photo to the interview.
- Visa Fee Receipt
- Proof of MRV payment (receipt from bank or online system).
B) Supporting Documents (Highly Recommended to Demonstrate Ties & Credibility)
1. Travel Purpose & Itinerary
- Travel itinerary (flights, hotels, or detailed travel plan).
- Day-by-day sightseeing plan (tourism schedule, places to visit, activities).
- Travel insurance (not mandatory, but recommended for safety).
- Cover Letter (in English):
- Explain purpose of trip (tourism, vacation, family holiday).
- State travel dates and duration.
- Mention previous international travel.
- Highlight strong ties to Thailand (employment, family, property, studies).
- Explain who will pay for the trip and why you will return.
2. Financial Proof (Ability to Pay for Trip)
- Bank statements (last 3–6 months), stamped by bank.
- Bank savings book copies (passbook updated).
- Certificate of deposit / fixed deposit accounts.
- Credit card statements or available credit lines.
- Evidence of additional funds (mutual funds, stocks, bonds).
- For sponsors (if family pays): sponsorship letter + sponsor’s financial documents.
3. Employment / Occupation Proof
- Employees:
- Employment verification letter on company letterhead (position, start date, monthly salary, approved leave dates).
- Recent payslips (3–6 months).
- Social Security contributions or tax filings (if available).
- Business owners / Self-employed:
- Company registration certificate (DBD), VAT registration.
- Latest business tax filings.
- Company bank statements.
- Students:
- Student certificate (from school/university).
- Letter confirming study status and approved leave.
- Retired applicants:
- Pension statement or retirement fund documents.
- Bank proof of monthly pension deposits.
4. Family & Social Ties to Thailand
- Marriage certificate (if married).
- Birth certificates of children (if applicable).
- House registration book (Tabien Baan).
- Family photos (optional, but sometimes useful when explaining ties).
5. Assets & Property (Strengthens Proof of Ties)
- Land ownership documents (Chanote deed) with certified English translation.
- House / condo ownership (title deeds, mortgage contracts).
- Vehicle registration (car/motorcycle ownership).
- Long-term rental contracts (if renting property for income).
- Insurance policies (life, health, retirement, or investment-linked).
- Proof of other long-term investments (stocks, government bonds, provident funds).
6. Previous Travel History
- Old passports with visas and entry/exit stamps (Schengen, UK, Japan, Korea, USA if held before).
- Copies of previous valid/expired U.S. visas (if any).
- Boarding passes or old itineraries to demonstrate compliance.
C) Special Circumstances
- Visiting friends/family in the U.S.:
- Optional invitation letter from U.S. resident.
- Copy of U.S. sponsor’s passport, visa, or Green Card.
- Proof of relationship (birth/marriage certificate, photos together).
- Children under 18 traveling:
- Birth certificate.
- Consent letter from both parents (notarized if only one parent traveling).
- Copies of parents’ IDs/passports.
- Group travel / tours:
- Proof of group booking from travel agency.
- Evidence of payment for package tour.
D) Embassy Interview Preparation
- Arrive at least 15 minutes early with all required documents neatly arranged.
- Be ready to answer in English (interpreter possible upon request for Thai speakers).

- Who is funding your trip?
- Where will you stay?
- Do you have relatives in the U.S.?

- Keep answers short, clear, and truthful.
