A) Core Application Requirements

  1. Online visa application form.
  2. Visa fee payment receipt (approx. £127 for a 6-month visa, subject to change).
  3. Appointment booking confirmation (VFS Bangkok or Chiang Mai).
  4. Passport (original + copies):
    • Valid at least 6 months beyond your intended return date.
    • Must have 2 blank pages.
    • Include old passports with previous visas/travel history.
  5. Biometric enrolment (photo + fingerprints at VFS).
  6. Photograph (VFS normally takes one, but bring a passport-size photo as backup).

B) Main Supporting Documents (Relationship & Purpose of Visit)

  1. Covering Letter (in English, from applicant):
    • Purpose of visit (to spend time with partner, tourism, family-related reasons).
    • Duration of stay + travel dates.
    • Brief history of relationship (when and how you met, visits to Thailand, previous travels together).
    • Explanation of who pays for the trip (applicant or UK partner).
    • Commitments in Thailand (job, family, property, etc.).
    • Confirmation of intention to return to Thailand after the visit.
  2. Invitation Letter from UK Partner:
    • Must be in English, written by the UK partner.
    • Include:
      • Full name, address, contact details.
      • Immigration status in the UK (passport/visa details).
      • Nature of relationship with the applicant.
      • Purpose of visit + dates.
      • Where the applicant will stay (with partner or in hotel).
      • Who is covering expenses.
  3. Proof of UK Partner’s Identity and Status:
    • Copy of UK passport or residence permit/visa.
    • Proof of address (utility bill, council tax, tenancy agreement).
  4. Proof of Relationship:
    • Photos together in Thailand or abroad.
    • Flight tickets/travel history showing joint trips.
    • Chat logs, call records, emails (sample pages, not everything).
    • Gifts, money transfers, or proof of ongoing communication.
    • If married: Thai marriage certificate + certified English translation.
    • If fiancé/boyfriend/girlfriend: Evidence of long-term relationship and visits.
  5. Travel Plan:
    • Daily itinerary: sightseeing, time with partner, planned activities.
    • Flight reservations (return ticket).
    • Hotel bookings if not staying with partner.

C) Financial Proof (Applicant and/or Partner)

  1. Applicant’s financial documents (preferred, if self-funded):
    • Bank statements (6 months).
    • Savings accounts, fixed deposits.
    • Payslips and employment documents.
    • Credit card statements (optional).
  2. If UK partner is sponsoring (covering costs):
    • Sponsorship/Support Letter.
    • Partner’s bank statements (6 months).
    • Partner’s payslips or proof of income.
    • Proof of accommodation (mortgage statement, tenancy agreement, or landlord letter).

D) Proof of Ties to Thailand (Very Important in Relationship Applications)

  1. Employment:
    • Letter from Thai employer confirming position, salary, approved leave dates.
    • Payslips (last 3–6 months).
    • Employment contract (if available).
  2. Business ownership:
    • Company registration (DBD).
    • Tax filings, financial records.
  3. Students:
    • Certificate of enrollment + letter of leave approval.
  4. Family ties:
    • Marriage certificate (if applicant has a spouse in Thailand).
    • Children’s birth certificates.
    • Household registration (Tabien Baan).
  5. Assets:
    • Land/property deeds (with certified English translation).
    • Vehicle registrations.
    • Investment accounts (stocks, funds, bonds).

E) Additional Supporting Documents

  • Travel insurance: Not mandatory but recommended.
  • Previous visas: Copies of UK, Schengen, US, Japan, Korea visas showing compliance.
  • Evidence of return travel: Return flight ticket booking.

F) Special Notes by Relationship Type

  • Married applicants: Strongest case. Must include translated marriage certificate.
  • Unmarried partners: Must show proof of durable relationship (photos, chats, trips).
  • Boyfriend/Girlfriend (short relationship): Harder to prove — financial independence in Thailand and strong return ties are critical.
  • Fiancé(e): Must show genuine engagement and intention to return, not to stay permanently.

G) Final Checklist Before Submission
