1. Check if you need a visa or are visa-exempt

  • According to Turkey’s visa policy, Thai citizens are visa-exempt for short stays (up to 30 days) in Turkey.
  • That means if you’re just going for tourism or short visit, you probably do not need to apply for a visa in advance.
  • If your stay is longer than 30 days, or for other purposes (work, study, etc.), you likely will have to apply for a visa or residence permit.

2. For those who are not eligible for visa-exemption or need a special visa

If your nationality isn’t eligible for visa-free travel (or you want to stay longer, or for another purpose), here’s the process:

a. E-Visa (for tourism or business, short stays)

  • Turkey offers an electronic visa (e-Visa) for many nationalities for tourism or business purposes.
  • You apply online via the official site: evisa.gov.tr
  • You’ll need to provide details like passport info, travel dates, etc., and pay the visa fee online.
  • Once approved, the e-Visa is linked to your travel document. You print the approval and show it when traveling.

b. Traditional Visa via Turkish Embassy or Consulate

If you need a visa not covered by e-Visa (e.g. for long stay, work, study), you will have to apply through the Turkish diplomatic mission in Bangkok. Here’s how:

  1. Find the Turkish Embassy in Thailand
The Embassy of Turkey in Bangkok handles visa applications.
  2. Prepare required documents
    Typical required documents include:
    • Your passport (valid for at least 6 months) + copies
    • Completed visa application form
    • Passport-size photos
    • Travel itinerary (flight bookings)
    • Proof of accommodation
    • Proof of finances or bank statements
    • Travel insurance
    • If applicable: invitation letter, letters from sponsors, etc.
  3. Submit application & attend interview (if needed)
You may need to make an appointment and visit the embassy to submit your documents and possibly attend an interview.
  4. Pay visa fee
Fees vary depending on visa type.
  5. Wait for processing
Processing times vary. Usually several days to a few weeks.
