UK Standard Visitor Visa — Document Checklist (Tourism, Thai Applicant, with Hotel Bookings)

A) Core Application Requirements

  1. Online visa application form.
  2. Visa fee payment receipt (approx. GBP £115 for a 6-month visa, subject to change).
  3. Visa appointment confirmation (from TLScontact Bangkok or Chiang Mai).
  4. Passport (original + copies):
    • Valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date.
    • With 2 blank pages.
    • Include old passports with previous visas/travel history.
  5. Biometric enrolment confirmation (photo and fingerprints done at TLS).
  6. Photograph (if required — often photos are taken at TLS, but bring one passport-size photo just in case).

B) Main Supporting Documents (Tourism — no inviter)

  1. Covering Letter (in English):
    • Must include:
      • Purpose of your trip (tourism/sightseeing).
      • Dates and travel plan.
      • Previous travel history (Schengen, UK, US, Japan, etc.).
      • Strong commitments in Thailand (employment, family, business, property).
      • Financial ability to support yourself.
      • Why you should be granted a UK visa (genuine tourism, good compliance history, intention to return).
  2. Travel Itinerary / Plan:
    • Daily sightseeing plan with attractions, tours, activities.
    • Should match the hotel bookings and flights.
  3. Flight reservation (round-trip):
    • Proof of flights to/from the UK.
    • Do not purchase until visa is approved; booking confirmation is enough.
  4. Hotel bookings:
    • Confirmed bookings for the entire stay.
    • In applicant’s name (or with explanation if booked under someone else).
  5. Travel insurance:
    • Not mandatory but strongly recommended.
    • Should cover medical emergencies and the full duration of the trip.

C) Proof of Financial Means

  1. Bank statements (last 6 months) — showing regular income and sufficient balance.
  2. Savings accounts / fixed deposits — to demonstrate available funds.
  3. Credit card statements (optional, but useful to show available credit).
  4. Currency exchange slips (if already exchanged funds, optional).

D) Proof of Ties to Thailand (Return Guarantee)

1. Employment or Business

  • Employees:
    • Employment letter (on company letterhead, signed, stating position, salary, start date, approved leave dates, HR contact).
    • Payslips (3–6 months).
  • Business owners/self-employed:
    • Business registration documents (DBD, partnership, or company).
    • Tax filings and company bank statements.
  • Students:
    • Certificate of enrollment from school/university.
    • Letter confirming leave approval.
  • Retirees:
    • Pension documents or retirement income evidence.

2. Family and Social Ties

  • Marriage certificate (if married).
  • Birth certificates of children (if applicable).
  • House registration (Tabien Baan).

E) Additional Proof of Assets in Thailand

In addition to employment/family ties, you should show ownership of assets that demonstrate stability and commitment to return to Thailand. Examples include:

  • Land or property ownership:
    • Chanote (title deed) or other official property documents.
    • If in Thai, attach a certified English translation.
  • Vehicles:
    • Car or motorcycle registration certificates showing applicant’s ownership.
  • Investments:
    • Proof of stock holdings, mutual funds, provident funds, government bonds, or other investment accounts.
  • Savings and fixed deposits:
    • Bank books or certificates of deposit beyond standard bank statements.
  • Other long-term contracts/assets:
    • Rental agreements, business lease contracts, or insurance policies.

📌 Important: If original ownership documents are in Thai, you must provide certified English translations. Submitting asset documents strengthens the case by showing the applicant has significant commitments and reasons to return after travel.

F) Previous Travel History

  • Copies of old visas (Schengen, UK, US, Canada, Japan, Korea, etc.).
  • Passport stamps showing compliance with visa rules (returning on time).

G) Final Pre-Submission Checklist
